August 2005 Several members of the troop joined our sponsor the Warm Springs Rotary Club for an outing to an Oakland A's game on the 13th. A pre-game tailgate BBQ was also part of the days events.
July 2005 The troop travelled to Wente Scout Reservation for a week of Summer Camp and followed up two weeks later with a second week at Camp Royaneh. Lots of fun, Merit Badges, advancement, and just plain fun was had by all.
June 2005 The Scout-O-Rama was held on the USS Hornet this year and the troop demonstrated the making of Monkey's Fist knots for their activity on the 4th. Several Troop 103 campers spent the night on the hanger deck Friday night.
May 2005 Halfmoon Bay was the destination for a one-day beach trip on the 28th. On the 20-22nd the troop traveled to Knights Ferry for a rafting trip on the Stanislaus River. Warm weather and cool water made for a great trip.
April 2005 Welcome to former Webelos Jesse who bridged to Troop 103 this month. 25 scouts decided to find out what the Mystery Campout was all about. Rappelling and cave exploring at Moaning Caverns with a side trip to Columbia Historic Park kept everyone busy on the 22nd to 24th. On Sunday, April 10, 2005 members of the troop gathered at Warm Springs School to construct five (5) wooden planters. The planters were 4 ft long, 2 ft wide, and 2 ft high. They were placed around the north and west sides of the Cafeteria Building to beautify the structure. Ten adults and 22 Scouts participated in this day-long activity. Funds for this project were contributed by the Warm Springs School PTA.
April 2nd marked the awarding of the Eagle Scout Rank to Jason Howard.
March 2005 We welcome these former Webelos: Johnathan & Clayton from Pack 120 and Cole & Jonus from Pack 153 who bridged over to Troop 103 this month. We held a Court-of-Honor on the 21st to award Rank Advancements and Merit Badges earned during the last quarter. Mt. Diablo, one of the Rim-of-the-Bay hikes, was the destination on the 13th. A warm clear day with only a little haze welcomed the intrepid hikers when they reached the top. A ferry ride to Angel Island and a chance to explore the island on bikes was enjoyed by Troop 103 scouts on the 5th & 6th. The troop also did a service project for the park service while staying overnight.
February 2005 We welcome these former Webelos: Johnny from Pack 125 and Terrence, Robert, & Eric from Pack 199 who bridged over to Troop 103 this month. On the 26th City Beach was the destination for a chance to do a little rock climbing. Thanks to all the adults who signed up to be belayers. We travelled to Lake Del Valle on the 11th-13th for our annual Patrol Cook-off. After rain on Friday as we arrived the rest of the weekend was warm and sunny. The Patrols out did themselves using dutch ovens to created their taste meals. When the judging was over and the scores tallied, the "Flying Panthers" came out on top. After sampling all the great dishes the judges didn't need any dinner, they we're well fed. The Indoor Rally was held on the 4th. Troop 103 took a 2nd place in both the Knot Relay and the Compass Relay. Great job scouts!
January 2005 Pinecrest was the destination on the 22nd and 23rd for a snow campout. Lots of snow and warms days made for an enjoyable time.
December 2004 A Court of Honor was held on the 13th to recognize the achievements attained during the past 3 months. Eight rank advancements and nine Merit Badges were awarded along with numerous other awards and recognitions.
17 scouts attended the Winter Camping Awareness Seminar on the 4th. They and the 5 adults who joined them learned about clothing, hypothermia, sleeping warm, stoves and fuel, first aid, and winter foods.
November 2004 On the 13th we distributed Scouting-For-Food bags and then went back a week later on the 20th to pick them up. The Troop working with Pack 199 collected a record number of 6247 items. After distributing bags on the 13th we conducted a troop Junior Leader Training (JLT) class taught by the older scouts at Los Moches. This was an opportunity for the recently elected and appointed junior leaders to learn some leadership skills. After the bag pickup on the 20th a total of 14 scouts travelled to Los Moches for a one night mini-backpack.
October 2004 The troop took part in the Fall Camporee on the 22nd-24th at Camp Royaneh. The Cobra Patrol took home two 1st place, one 2nd place and one 3rd place ribbons. The Flaming Arrow Patrol took home two 1st place, four 2nd place, and two 3rd place ribbons and came in 2nd overall in their division. In addition both our Scoutmaster and SPL won the cooking contests with their creative and tasty entries.
September 2004 A Court-of-Honor was the chance to recognize scouts for the achievements earned over the summer. Ten rank advancements and 132 Merit Badges were presented along with numerous other awards. 24 scouts travelled to Columbia on the 24th-26th for a Gold Panning campout. Saturday was spent on the river learning how to pan for gold and swimming. That night we put on a campfire program for the camp ground after their regular entertainment failed to show up. On the 19th, Mt Tamalpais was the destination for scouts working on the Rim-of-the-Bay hike series. After a heavy rain storm while travelling to the hike the day turned out perfect for hiking with clear views from the top.
