A Boy Scout promises "to help other people at all times." What better way is there to show our Scouting Spirit than by participating in the annual Scouting For Food drive? Scouting for food is the largest single food drive in the Bay Area, with twelve councils participating. The Boy Scouts call this a "Good Turn" where thousands of Scouts turn out for a single event to help others in need. Over the years, the Boy Scouts of America has worked diligently to improve our communities and the welfare of the families who reside in these communities. Since 1988 this effort has been centered around collecting food for the less fortunate in our community. Each year the number of canned goods collected continues to rise. Because of these efforts, area food banks benefited immensely. The mission of the project is to have all Scouts participate in the collection of food items to be given to needy people and families within the local community. Across the country, nearly 4 million Scouts and adult leaders distribute and collect bags of food for their local community food banks. Troop 103 takes an active role in Scouting For Food each year. The results from this effort are shown below.
